Abstract

Research into the origins and development of the activities of business groups in Mexico has been carried out since the 1970s, which coincides with the emergence of regional history and economic history studies. Research has grown through seminars, such as the one conducted by Ciro Cardoso in the 1970s, in the Directorate of Historical Studies of the National Institute of Anthropology and History, which resulted in the pioneering book Formation and Development of the Bourgeoisie in Mexico (19th Century). This work has been continued in the Directorate by other researchers, such as Dr. Guillermo Beato in the 1980s and 1990s.
