In the process of globalization and integration, or regionalization which we live, remembering how were integrated and forming countries, and its borders, it helps us to understand how they worked forces apparently dissimilar in one direction, which was the meeting two societies, the American and Mexican, who cared for occupying their border areas.
In the course of their socioeconomic systems to meet him, apparently they converged reaction forces of both countries towards its borders. Therefore, they took a series of measures, in the Mexican case, that had been made throughout the nineteenth century, such as encouraging policies of colonization of the northern border and the establishment of customs and guardhouses, ever
closer to the border, which until 1882 were established boundary markers.
In the construction of the border between Sonora and Arizona, involving the Southern Pacific Railroad R.R. passing through the Mesilla stop it at the border with Sonora, after the construction of the first international railroad in Mexico: Sonora Railroad, running from Nogales, Sonora to the port of Guaymas, which was accompanied by a reordering of garitas, customs guards and establishment of new populations to occupy the border area, as was the case of Nogales.
